    Description

Up for auction is the legendary (and no longer available) Primesense Carmine 1.09 short-range 3D sensor — ALONG WITH very unique accessories that adds a great deal more value to owning it.
I’ll give a short history on this sensor a bit further below, but to give you a quick rundown, this package comes with:
    1) A perfect-condition Primesense Carmine 1.09 unit short-range unit, in its original box & packaging.
    2) A 3D print & laser-cut lenses of the famous “glasses mod” for the 1.09 unit, which the community figured out would allow you to get MUCH more highly detailed scans when used with compatible software.
    3) A slide-on tripod mount for the Carmine, as the base can’t be attached to one otherwise.
    4) A 3D printed handle that screws into the bottom of the tripod mount bracket, making the sensor extremely easy to handle when hand-held.
This is a great bundle that you likely won’t find anywhere else — and that’s saying a lot, considering how hard it is to come by Carmine 1.09 sensors as it is already.
Here’s a little history about the unit, in my own words:
Primesense was the company hired by Microsoft to create the original Kinect Sensor for the Xbox 360. Primesense continued to create their own industry-leading sensors & that culminated in the Carmine 1.09, which was able to capture greater detail at a closer range. This made it great for 3D scanning of objects and faces, and famously for face motion capture for film & tv visual effects. It became THE sensor to own, until the company was suddenly purchased by Apple — and the sensors became unavailable immediately after & have never resurfaced since.
The remnants of the sensor technology can now be found in Apple’s higher-end iphones and ipad pro’s, but their use has been hindered and limited to things like the (to me) silly ‘animoji’ — a far cry to the usefulness they used to have.
The unit still has a strong-standing in the community & they remain highly sought after.
Especially with the accessories included, this unit is an extremely capable sensor, easy to use, and can attain great results with very little difficulty.
Hoping this goes to a good home — and Happy Buying!
